Find the right fit

Different harness designs use different measurements. Check the product name and select the matching chart below. Measure your dog while standing, using a soft tape. You should be able to slide two fingers comfortably beneath a fitted strap.

Dachshund Harness — sized by neck

For the Dachshund Harness, select a size based on neck circumference, then adjust the chest straps for comfort.

Step-In Dachshund Harness — sized by chest

For the Step-In Dachshund Harness, measure chest girth at the widest point behind the front legs. Compare neck as a secondary fit check. The size ranges below reflect the product's current size chart; available stock may vary.

Fit check

After adjusting the harness, check for rubbing behind the front legs, restricted movement, or the ability to back out of the harness. Adjust or exchange if it does not fit securely.

Size & fit guide

Dachshunds aren't built like other dogs — long backs, deep chests, short legs — so a quick measure beats guessing every time. Grab a soft tape measure and take three numbers before you order:

  • Neck: around the base of the neck, where a collar naturally sits.
  • Chest: around the widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs. This is the number that matters most for harnesses.
  • Back length: from the base of the neck to the base of the tail, while your dog is standing.

Between sizes? Choose the larger one and cinch down for a snug fit.

Sizes aren't interchangeable between styles — an M parka and an M jumpsuit are cut differently, so pick the size for the piece you're actually buying. Measure your dog's back length and chest girth, then send us the numbers and we'll tell you which size to order. Between sizes on a coat? Go up — coverage along the back matters more than a close fit.

Sizes shown are for the Burrow Dog Bed. Doxies like to sprawl as much as they like to curl, so measure your dog from the base of the neck to the base of the tail and choose a bed at least that wide if you want room to stretch out.
