Find Your Doxie's Perfect Fit

The gear we stock is sized for the dachshund body — long back, short legs, deep chest. Standard size charts often don't account for that shape, so ours is built around it.

How to Measure Your Dog

You'll need a soft measuring tape. Measure snugly but not tight — you should be able to slip two fingers underneath. Always measure standing, never lying down.

  • Chest girth: Measure around the widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs. This is the measurement that decides comfort — don't skip it.
  • Neck circumference: Measure around the base of the neck, down where a harness sits — lower than a collar.
  • Back length: Measure from the base of the neck to the base of the tail.
  • Weight: Use your vet's most recent measurement.

Harness Size Chart

Size Neck Typically Fits
XS 10.2–11.8 in (26–30 cm) Most puppies and smaller minis
S 11.4–13.4 in (29–34 cm) Most adult minis, smaller standards
M 13.8–16.5 in (35–42 cm) Most adult standards

Our harnesses are sized by neck. Chest girth still matters for comfort — the straps adjust to it — but the neck measurement is what picks your size. “Typically fits” is a starting point, not a promise: chest depth varies more between individual dachshunds than between minis and standards. Go by the tape, not the label on your dog.

Between sizes?

Send us both numbers — chest and neck — and we'll call it for you rather than guessing. Still growing? Size up and re-measure every 3–4 weeks until about a year old; the adjustable straps will keep pace.

Our Fit Promise

Get the fit right

Size & fit guide

Dachshunds aren't built like other dogs — long backs, deep chests, short legs — so a quick measure beats guessing every time. Grab a soft tape measure and take three numbers before you order:

  • Neck: around the base of the neck, where a collar naturally sits.
  • Chest: around the widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs. This is the number that matters most for harnesses.
  • Back length: from the base of the neck to the base of the tail, while your dog is standing.

Between sizes? Choose the larger one and cinch down for a snug fit.

Coat & Sweater Size Guide

StyleSizes available
Dachshund Winter ParkaXS, S, M, L, XL
Dachshund Floral Winter VestS, M, L, XL, XXL
Fleece Dog JumpsuitS, M, L, XL, XXL

Sizes aren't interchangeable between styles — an M parka and an M jumpsuit are cut differently, so pick the size for the piece you're actually buying. Measure your dog's back length and chest girth, then send us the numbers and we'll tell you which size to order. Between sizes on a coat? Go up — coverage along the back matters more than a close fit.

Bed Size Guide

SizeDimensions
S15.7 × 15.7 in (40 × 40 cm)
M19.7 × 19.7 in (50 × 50 cm)
L23.6 × 23.6 in (60 × 60 cm)
XL27.6 × 27.6 in (70 × 70 cm)

Sizes shown are for the Burrow Dog Bed. Doxies like to sprawl as much as they like to curl, so measure your dog from the base of the neck to the base of the tail and choose a bed at least that wide if you want room to stretch out.

Ready to shop? Put those numbers to work on our harnesses and sweaters & jackets.

Still unsure? Send us your dog’s measurements before you order and we’ll recommend a size — if we get it wrong, the swap is on us. Otherwise, 30-day size swaps come with a prepaid label for a flat $6. Details on our Returns & Exchanges page. More questions? See the FAQ or email support@tinyweenies.com.
